Marta Kraftzeck
Marta Kraftzeck was born and raised in Monterey, California. She completed her Bachelors of Science from UC Santa Cruz in Botany and earned her Master’s Degree from UC Davis in Viticulture and Enology. Marta began her career back in the 1980s, making her the first woman winemaker in Monterey County. She joined the winemaking team at Scheid Family Wines in 2009.
Marta is a Certified Sommelier, a Certified Wine Educator from the Society of Wine Educators, an instructor for Elderhostel (Road Scholars), a board member of Les Dames d‘Escoffier and a member of The American Institute of Wine & Food.
Marta is also a seasoned traveler whose passport has been stamped in Mexico, most of South America, New Zealand, Indonesia and just about every country in Europe, including 10 trips to Spain because “the Jamon Iberico is so addictive.” And if that’s not enough, Marta is currently writing a book that answers the 100 most common questions people ask about wine.
Marta and her husband Steve make their home in Monterey where they enjoy exploring the local restaurant scene and making frequent treks to the beach with their Welsh Corgi, Gracie.
